Celebrating Ramadan the Mahe Dubai Student way!

Okay sanity level is 'not bad' right now, so you are safe to read today's post (muwahahaahaha).
Okay, so i have to update about living in Dubai, leaving home, Indian Independence Day(?), Saudi National Day (!) and Ramadan.
Oh yeah Ramadan Kareem!
Lets start with Ramadan.
Ramadan for a hostelite (like me, ahem ahem) is 'celebrated' with little spirit. No make that very little. We wake up for sahri around after 4 a.m., choose between butter, jam, mint chutney, mayonnaise, cucumber/ tomato/ capsicum slices to go with our bread. If we r slightly more lucky, we get veg burger. If we are even more lucky, everthing gets over by the time you reach the dining table (lost my wit, seriously).
...and i wake up again after 6:30 a.m. get ready, rush to the bus at 7:30, reach college at 8, classes start at 8:30, gets over at 2:00, reach hostel around 3-3:30. and work on my assignment like a donkey...donkey that can paint (did i have any wit in the first place?).
We break our fast at 6:15, normally have an unchilled tetra pack of fruit juice, fruit salad with the first three rainbow colours (apple, orange, banana), sumthin fried...yes thats it. thats it. THATS IT!

Not even half of what i would be eating at home.

So its pretty much like normal days. only havin breakfast too early, and skippin lunch (which almost everyone does, anyway). No excitement, the festive atmosphere of ramadan...nope nothing. Even when we break our fast, we don't feel like breaking it at times. No prizes for guessing why.

And yeah I go to bed around 11-3. Depends on how much work i have, and depends on my roomies' energy levels. There are times when they end up listening to songs till 3. And there are times when all of us go to bed by 12. So we're pretty messed up. No I am. Even more than before.
Our normal college timings are 8:30 a.m.- 4:30 p.m. That's kinda hectic, esp when one is so used to reachin home by 2:30 during school. I rach hostel around 5:00 p.m. Isn't that pathetic? Don't answer that.
ID dept. ( Interior Design Department) had college timings from 12:30 to 4:30 until last year. Things had to change only when I joined. WHAT THE ....!
