Nothing was unusual about that evening... the wind wasn't any kinder than it had been since the past few autumn days. There were no lightnings to add about, no rains, and the sounds of the leaves weren't noticed any more than they usally were. She stood at the usual spot, from where they both walked everyday till the bus stop where they parted ways as strangers. Yes, this is a rant about a guy and a girl, and no, they aren't in love.


With two cans of coke in her hand, she stood outside the college canteen. She didn't search for him through the crowd of youngsters spilling out of the college building. She never did.


He walked to her, she tossed a can to him, and they both walked.


" hmm i notice a bright smile... good day?" she asked


" just fine... " he seemed to be fighting a smile. she narrowed her eyes. "how was ur day?" asked he. She smiled and shrugged "okay".


He understood he won't be doing much of the talking today.


A different smile escaped his lips. " whats new?"


"Have you ever been loved by a girl?"


"Have i ever been loved by a girl..."


"Yea... you know... in the romantic... that sort of way"


They sipped the coke in silence


"I know someone who loved me. In, you know, that way. A friend. I asked myself, why he loved me. and then i realised there almost never is a reason, right?"


They looked at each other.


" I miss him. Or maybe i miss the attention"


He smiled.


" Another pair in class dating ?" he enquired


"That's not the point..."


He gave her a triumphant look and grinned.


She scowled at him and walked faster. He didn't keep pace. She waited after few steps.


" i sometimes think... all this love n crap... is so... bullshitty..."


" love bulshitty?"


"okay tell me one thing... that guy who smiled at you as he walked past by us now, he's your friend right?"

"yea..."

" if you weren't with me, he'd have slapped your back and started talking to you right?"

"right" he said " someone else accusing us of secretly dating sweethearts?"

She was quiet.

" your friends suck. Had you walked with a girl everyday, they'd call you a lesbian??"

i was bored.
